Both actors have done a phenomenal job of playing their respective characters. There is subtlety in their performance and the mixture of loud and quite streets of Japan frequently replicate the chaos and calm that the characters visibly feel in their faces. This is a movie for outsiders who always feel like strangers in rooms.

Kiki’s Delivery Service

Kiki’s Delivery Service is a Studio Ghibli masterpiece and is centered around the main character Kiki, who is a witch. Being 13 years of age and according to tradition, she leaves her home to settle down in a new town. What follows are adventures, mishaps and lots of frequent flier miles with Kiki making multiple friends in her journey.

The movie is about finding your place in a world full of strangers and then turning some of those strangers into loved ones. Kiki faces spiritual problems in the middle of the movie but receives help from an ally she made during the start of the movie. This helps her overcome her shortcomings and become the town hero, in a sense. The animation work by Studio Ghibli is outstanding. You will love each second of this movie.

This movie is labelled as a Romantic Comedy but it feels like more of a coming of age story. You will find out as you watch it and progress through it. The plot revolves around a girl and boy who are experiencing the same day over and over again. The movie is full of quips, witty characters and scientific arguments.

If you are a person who enjoys art, science, creative pursuit and philosophy, then this is definitely the movie for you.

The story follows Theodore Twombly who is an introvert and a recently divorced writer who gets an AI named Samantha so that he can suffer less from loneliness. The AI becomes quite human like with emotions of its own. Scarlet Johansson’s portrayal of the AI is so subtle yet lifelike that there is hardly you will hardly notice any difference between human and AI qualities.

The film explores loneliness and human relationships in the deepest senses. It can be uncomfortable to watch at times but it is one of the best movies that will steer you forward into rethinking the beauty in every day things.
